Indian Lake is located in north central Volusia County. The lake is situated along Rima Ridge of the Volusia Ridge Sets, in the Eastern Flatwoods District. Lake level at the time of the seismic survey was 11.3 m (37 ft) NGVD. Indian Lake has an oblong shape with a perimeter of 6 km (4 mi) and a surface area of 2.2 km². Rima Ridge is bordered on either side by Tiger Bay and Bennet Swamps. Bumcomb Hill is situated to the north of the lake.
